Doherty Memorial High School
Doherty Memorial High School, a comprehensive high school, opened
in 1966 to replace the former Classical and Commerce High Schools
The school is named for Dr. Leo T. Doherty, an educator, who,
over a period of forty years, served Worcester with distinction
as a teacher, art director, assistant superintendent, and superintendent
of schools. The school has an enrollment of over 1,600 students
and a faculty of 117 -- almost 90 percent of whom have advanced
educational degrees. Eighty-five percent of Doherty graduates
attend college and fifteen percent go into the work force or the
military.
